About the Feed-in Tariff
Northland expects Grand Bend will be accepted by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) under the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program. Under the FIT program, the OPA agrees to buy renewable energy generated by eligible projects at fixed prices under long term contracts.
The Ontario FIT program includes domestic content requirements that mandate a percentage of locally made equipment. This feature aims to boost the province’s manufacturing sector, to spur technology development and to reduce component costs through economies of scale.
